Summer is here

Parece que a silly season me apanhou a jeito desta vez!
Ontem, no fim da nova sessão de fotos para a cooler, com o termómetro a atingir temperaturas demasiado altas (sim, o verão chegou finalmente!) e completamente exausta, resolvi testar algumas das características da minha máquina nova com algumas caretas.
Como me diverti muito durante as fotos e depois delas, achei que talvez também vos fizessem rir!
Estou na recta final de alguns trabalhos e irei em breve (finalmente) de férias por alguns dias.
A ideia de ir à praia, ou de apenas dormir uma sesta sem preocupações de horários a cumprir ou de grandes responsabilidades afiguram-se, de momento, como um oásis neste deserto de horas a fio de fixação do monitor e de trabalho minucioso com a minha inseparável agulha de crochet.
Fiquem atentos porque vou actualizar a loja hoje, mesmo antes de partir para uns dias livres, solarengos e felizes.

It seems silly season really got me this time!
Yesterday, at the end of the new cooler photoshoot, with the temperature rising incredibly high (yes, it's finally summer!) and completely tired, i took some pictures of me with silly faces to test some features of my new camera.
Since i had a good laugh while i was doing it and afterwards, i thought maybe you would too!
I'm finishing some work and soon will go (finally) on vacation for a few days.
The idea of going to the beach, or just taking a nap without worrying about schedules or great responsibilities seems to me, right now, like an oasis in this desert mix of computer staring and needle hardwork.

Something for the weekend

É oficial, e nunca pensei dizer isto, mas estou apaixonada por borbotos!
Este é o mais recente protótipo da cooler (e um dos que me deu mais trabalho até hoje, mas valeu a pena, não valeu?) e preciso da vossa preciosa ajuda para lhe encontrar um nome.
O colar das fotos é multicolorido, mas a ideia é que também possa funcionar apenas com um ou dois tons. Podem ver outras fotos aqui.
Daí que quem o baptizar com o nome de que eu mais gostar, tem direito a um desconto de 50% num colar à escolha de entre os que estiverem disponíveis na loja na altura.
Anunciarei o nome vencedor no dia 15 de Agosto.

It's official, and i never thought i'd come to say it, but i'm in love with bobbles!
This is cooler's most recent prototype (and one of the hardest one's to accomplish, but it was all worth it, don't you think?) and i need your precious help to name it.
The necklace in the pictures is multicolored, but the whole idea is that it can also work only in one or two colors or shades. You can see other pictures here.
So, i've decided that the person who gets it a name that i really like will be intitled to 50% off of any necklace in my shop at that moment.
I'll announce the winner's name on August 15th.

The raffle

Hoje de manhã, eu e a minha assistente mini, pegámos num dos taleigos cá de casa e fizémos o sorteio por entre os nomes da caixa de comentários e a feliz contemplada foi a Vera, que vai receber um colar!
[Foi uma coincidência engraçada, uma vez que há uns meses eu ganhei um conjunto de postais que ela sorteou!]
É curioso perceber as diferentes posturas dos leitores do blog: há aqueles que gostam que eu saiba que passam por aqui e aqueles que, apesar de visitantes assíduos, são tão tímidos (acho que só pode ser essa a explicação) que nem quando ofereço uma prenda estão dispostos a deixar o anonimato.
Muito obrigada pelas visitas a todos, invisíveis inclusivé. Fazem com que isto não seja apenas uma extensão do meu umbigo e que eu perceba que o que vou escrevendo, fazendo e divulgando aqui não fica "perdido no éter" e que chega a cada vez mais olhos, ouvidos e bocas.

Estas duas músicas e o disco Veckatimest dos Grizzly Bear (o qual se encontra entre os meus discos de eleição de 2009, juntamente com os Fanfarlo, P.J. Harvey & John Parish, St. Vincent e mais uns quantos) andam a rodar insistemente por aqui.
Deixo-vos aqui este vídeo da actuação em Maio no Jools Holland, um dos meus divulgadores musicais favoritos (e sim, ainda me lembro de quando esperava pacientemente os seus programas, nos anos 90, sempre transmitido a altas horas da noite).

I've been listening to these two songs and to Veckatimest from Grizzly Bear (one of my album's of the year so far, along with Fanfarlo, P.J. Harvey & John Parish, St. Vincent and a few others) in repeat insistently.
I leave you this video from their performance in May on Jools Holland, one of my favourite musical spreaders (and yes, i still remember when i waited patiently for his show, in the 90's, late at night).

Generation www

A Alice, que tem 3 anos e pouco, já fala em computadores, impressoras e e-mails (que pelos vistos já lhe serviriam de meio de comunicação, se eu deixasse), já comanda o leitor de dvd (que utiliza em doses muito reduzidas e monitorizadas por nós), faz perguntas com nexo sobre assuntos complexos e aplica os adjectivos mais inesperados nas ocasiões mais acertadas.

A propósito do dia da criança recrio aqui o seguinte diálogo:
– olha, a avó vai telefonar logo para saber se tu fizeste tudo a que tinhas direito hoje e tu, depois, contas-lhe tudo que fizémos!
– não, não é pechiso falar com ela, eu depoish mando-lhe um eméilhi!
– ... :-D

Estas fotos foram tiradas no fim de semana na praia do Pedrógão (podem ver o set – ainda incompleto – aqui), para o projecto Bench Monday.
A saia linda (que ainda não tinha tido oportunidade de fotografar) é do ano passado e foi comprada à Marta Mourão.

Backstage

De todo o trabalho nos bastidores, há uma grande parte que não chega a ver a luz.
Penso muito, experimento muito, desmancho e refaço muito. E desmanchar custava muito ao início, mas aprendi que é um processo natural e que o resultado final sai sempre enriquecido com esse assumir da falha ou da imperfeição. Faz parte do processo criativo, e é sempre gratificante quando consigo chegar ao resultado que finalmente me satisfaz.
As peças da foto ainda estão em fase de maturação. Espero em breve pô-las na loja.

There's a lot from the backstage work that doesn't live to see the day light.
I think a lot, try a lot, undo and redo a lot. At first it was very hard to assume the failure, but i've learned that that is a natural thing and that the final result turns out richer and better afterwards. It's an important part of the creative process and i always feel rewarded when i get to the result that finally satisfies me.
The pieces in the picture are still in a developing fase. I hope to put them in the shop soon.

I did it, i won!

Hoje vou adormecer a rir!
Já não é novidade para ninguém que sou uma sapatólica inveterada, incorrigível e outras tantas coisas começadas por i! Pois.
Só que a partir de hoje sou uma um bocadinho menos anónima porque ganhei este concurso de fotografia.
E o prémio, perguntam vocês? O prémio, tcharan, são sapatos. 200€ inteirinhos em sapatos!

Today i'm going to bed with a smile on my face!
It's no news to anyone that i'm a severe shoeholic! Right.
But from now on, i'll be a little less anonymous one just because i won this photography contest.

Coimbra

Há sítios onde gosto sempre de voltar.
Não sei se por ter ido lá nascer, se por ter lá vivido entre os 17 e os 18 anos (e das boas recordações que tenho desses primeiros momentos de liberdade pura), ou se por sempre ter ouvido os meus pais falar com tantas saudades, ou se calhar por todos os motivos juntos, Coimbra é um deles.
Da tarde de sábado trouxe um set de fotografias para o flickr, algumas compras sobre as quais falarei depois, a pena de não ter comprado o lindo, caro e antigo taleigo da foto e o desejo de lá voltar em breve.

There are some places where i always love returning to.
I don't know wether if it's because i was born there or if it's because i lived there between my 17 and 18 years old (with all the good memories i keep from those first moments of pure freedom), or even if it's because my parents always reminded the city with such a nostalgic tone, or maybe for all those reasons altogether, but Coimbra is one of those places.
From saturday afternoon i kept the pictures set on flickr, some things i bought and about which i'll talk later, the sorrow for not buying the beautiful vintage patchwork bag in the picture and the wish of returning there soon.

Breaking the habit

Sempre gostei muito de andar a pé. Mas ultimamente, por múltiplos e variados motivos, isso não tem sido possível e não me tenho mexido tanto como gostaria.
O meu trabalho a sério e o meu outro trabalho (quase-a-sério) – cooler/wooler, requerem muita concentração e que esteja sentada por longos períodos de tempo, de tal forma que por vezes só me dou conta de que o dia está quase no fim quando a luz começa a ser insuficiente.
Este fim de semana, decidida a quebrar esse ciclo de comportamento sedentário, dei vários (muito) longos passeios e descobri sítios que não conhecia, apesar de estarem mesmo debaixo do meu nariz.
As minhas pernas doem, é verdade, mas decidi que vou continuar a dá-los (aos passeios) e estou até a pensar comprar uma bicicleta e um capacete, já que agora conheço os sítios perfeitos para andar nela!

ps: 1. O colar na primeira foto é o meu último protótipo e ainda não tem nome.

All of my life i've been used to walking a lot. But lately, for a great number of reasons, i'm not moving as often as i wished.
My real job and my other (almost real) job – cooler/wooler, require great concentration and sitting for long periods, and i sometimes only notice that the day is almost over when the light starts fading.
This weekend i decided to break that cicle of sedentary behaviour and took some long walks and discovered some great places i didn't know of.
My legs ache, it's true, but i've decided that i'm going to keep doing it and i'm even thinking of buying a bike and a helmet, cause now i know the perfect places to ride it!
